It’s Saturday

SATURDAY

Dear God,
It’s Saturday,
and the week has been a mixture of highs and lows,
joys and headaches,
deep fulfilment and new challenges…….

There are things we have done well,
things we could have done better,
and things we have avoided doing,
for whatever reason…..

But throughout it all we have grown,
even although we may not recognise it….
For you continue to work through us,
in so many hidden and unseen ways,
moulding us,
into the person you call us to be…..

And so help us this Saturday,
to be thankful for this past week,
and as the day progresses,
stir up in us a sense of joy and anticipation,
as we look forward to gathering to worship you,
in our church fellowship,
tomorrow morning….
AMEN

ISAIAH 64: 8

We are the clay, you are the potter. We are all the work of your hand.

I wonder why?

WE WONDER…

When we see the earthquake, we wonder.
When we see war and the refugee catastrophe, we wonder.
When we see international disease, sickness, fear and trauma, we wonder.
We wonder…what if it was me? What if it was my family?  What if it was my country, my village, my city?
My children? My husband, my father, my world?
Where would I find God in that?
We wonder Lord, where is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Lord, I am afraid.
Be to me the God of Abraham
Secure me in your faithful promises of love.

Lord, I am lost and misunderstood
Be to me the God of Isaac
Fulfil your word.

Lord, I am confused and tempted to turn
Be to me the God of Jacob
That I may love you with all of my heart, strength and mind.

Amen.

Are you over-tired?

KNACKERED

Busy world; busy life; busy work; busy relationships!
Energy levels crashing to the floor;
Stress climbing; exhaustion overload.
I’m lost in the chaos and drained by the load.
Where can I find my rest?
Where can I find my share of peace?

Lord, calm the ocean of my soul, and steer me towards the home port for rest.
Let your love wash over my troubled body,
and your peace still my agitated heart.
Make me yours and make me well,
Let me slumber in the shade of your tree.
When I awake let me see the world through rested eyes.
Freshened by your care and open to your possibilities.
